Treatment Options

There are a range of medications, including Cymbalta, used to manage chronic osteoarthritis pain.

Osteoarthritis is caused when the cartilage in your joints breaks down. When this cartilage breaks down and affects the underlying bone, it can result in pain and other symptoms.

There is no cure for osteoarthritis, but it can be managed through a variety of treatment options. Some of those treatment options include:

  • medication for pain (several different types, including Cymbalta, are available)
  • exercise
  • physical therapy
  • weight loss
  • assistive devices (such as canes or wedged insoles)
  • joint injections

Surgery, including joint replacement, can be used in some cases to aid those with osteoarthritis. Generally, this is considered only when a patient experiences high levels of pain and a loss in functioning.
