Taking Care of Yourself

The goal of treatment with Cymbalta is to help you manage your diabetic nerve pain caused by damaged nerves. This pain can make it difficult for you to do the things you want to do. It is important to be aware of the first step in managing the discomfort associated with diabetic nerve pain—help prevent further nerve damage by controlling blood sugar levels with proper diet and diabetes medication. In addition, it is a good idea to:

  • Maintain an ideal weight
  • Exercise regularly
  • Do not smoke and avoid excessive alcohol consumption

Note: Before beginning or changing an exercise program, please consult your healthcare professional.
